Eagles waive wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham

The Dorial Green-Beckham era never got off the ground.

The Eagles on Friday waived the third-year wide receiver and agreed to a three-year deal with quarterback Dane Evans.

Green-Beckham faced long odds to make the Eagles' 53-man roster this season because of the wide receivers they've added. They have Alshon Jeffery, Torrey Smith, Jordan Matthews, Nelson Agholor and rookies Mack Hollins and Shelton Gibson. That's six wide receivers right there, the maximum number teams usually keep, and it doesn't even include the undrafted guys who will battle for spots in training camp.

The 6-foot-5 Green-Beckham had just an OK year with the Eagles after being acquired from the Titans for reserve offensive lineman Dennis Kelly. In 15 games, DGB had 36 receptions (on 74 targets) for 392 yards and two touchdowns.

The 40th overall pick by Tennessee in the 2015 NFL draft, Green-Beckham has now already been given up on by two organizations. Because of his size and perceived upside, he'll likely get another shot from one of the other 30 teams.

As for Evans (6-1/210), he's a strong-armed, developmental QB from Tulsa. As a senior, he completed 59.5 percent of his passes for 3,348 yards with 32 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Evans was with the team during minicamp on a tryout.
