The Flyers held their annual Trial on the Isle competition for prospects on Monday in Stone Harbor, N.J. as a part of their six-day offseason development camp.

The team building and conditioning exercise at the beach gave the Flyers prospects something new this year with the addition of a popular workout program, CrossFit.

"[Athletic trainer] Jim McCrossin gave us strict orders not to kill these guys, so we kind of took it a little easy on them," CrossFit trainer Jim Franks said.

With the players split into different teams, the groups participated in various drills, including scavenger hunts, kayaking, obstacle courses, paddleboarding, tug of war and more.

"It's kind of like an Amazing Race thing where you've got to pick up flags and glasses and things like that," forward Scott Laughton said. "It was a lot of fun."

While fun for prospects, the Trial on the Isle lives up to its name.

"This is hard stuff, especially on the beach," forward Tyrell Goulbourne said. "It's not as easy as it looks."
