Flyers forward Scott Laughton has been loaned to the Phantoms for a conditioning assignment, according to general manager Ron Hextall.

Laughton has been on long term injured reserve since the beginning of the season with a left knee sprain suffered during training camp.

Given he hasn’t competed at all, it was entirely likely he would undergo a conditioning stint before being activated to the roster.

Laughton could return in week or so, but when he does, the Flyers may have to make a roster move to bring him back, given they are expected to activate defenseman Michael Del Zotto off LTIR on Saturday.

Laughton has been skating with the team since Oct. 23 and was expected to miss up to a month.
