The Phillies on Tuesday designated reliever Andrew Bailey for assignment and recalled Luis Garcia from Lehigh Valley.

Bailey, a Voorhees, New Jersey native, has struggled this season, splitting time between the big club and AAA. The Paul VI product is 3-1 with a 6.40 ERA in 32 1/3 innings with the Phillies. The former American League Rookie of the Year has battled shoulder injuries throughout his career. In his most recent outing, Bailey gave up a two-run homer to former Phillie Jeff Francoeur in a loss to the Braves on Sunday.

After appearing in 72 games for the Phils last year, Garcia has spent  most of 2016 in the minors. He's pitched in only three innings at the major league level this season. The hard-throwing righty has had a nice season for the Iron Pigs, going 6-3 with a 2.58 ERA and seven saves in 39 appearances. For his career, Garcia has appeared in 111 games for the Phillies with a 3.99 ERA and two saves.
