Phillies pitcher Zach Eflin not alarmed by knee flare up

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Phillies pitcher Zach Eflin is not alarmed by the flare up of swelling he has suffered in his surgically repaired right knee.

“It’s just a little something I felt after running sprints two days ago,” he said Saturday morning at Phillies camp.

Elfin was checked by team doctors. He said he would return to a bullpen mound on Monday. The right-hander had been held out of Friday’s workout when pitchers threw live batting practice.

“Today everything is fine,” he said.

Eflin had a pair of surgeries to address longstanding issues with tendinitis in both knees in the fall. He said this week’s flare up was “something you expect post surgery.” Eflin had reported to camp a week earlier saying his knees felt great.
