In the final game before the All-Star break, the Phillies are trying something new.

Aaron Altherr will lead off for the first time this season Sunday vs. the Padres. After a white-hot month of May and early June, Altherr has cooled off a bit, but is still hitting .279 with 13 home runs and 43 RBIs. In 77 games played, Altherr is third on the team in walks with 24.

Maikel Franco's recent power surge bumps him up to third in the lineup. Over the last week, Franco has hit three homers, including a solo shot in Saturday's loss.

After a day of rest Saturday, Nick Williams is back in the lineup Sunday, and will bat fifth and man left field. After a scorching debut in New York last weekend, Williams has struggled a bit recently, hitting .227 over the last week with more strikeouts (6) than hits (5).

Jerad Eickhoff will make his first big-league start since June 17, when he allowed just one run over six innings in Arizona. Eickhoff was placed on the 10-day disabled list on June 20, while dealing with an upper back strain.

All went well for Eickhoff in a rehab start Tuesday in Double A Reading. Eickhoff allowed a run in five innings on 57 pitches.

Overall, Eickhoff is 0-7 on the season with a 4.93 ERA with 65 strikeouts to 30 walks.
