Tonight's lineup: 2 big bats return for Phillies in series finale

The Phillies on Thursday night get back two of their best bats as they try to avoid a three-game sweep to the Angels.

Aaron Altherr (hamstring) and Nick Williams (sick) return to the lineup after missing Wednesday night's 7-0 loss. Altherr, who is hitting .287 with 16 homers and 48 RBIs, will be in his usual three-spot, while Williams will serve as the designated hitter and bat seventh with Hyun Soo Kim playing left field.

The rookie Williams has come back to life a bit since his red-hot start. Over his last six games, the 23-year-old is 4 for 25 (.160) with one RBI, one walk and nine strikeouts. Still, he's been a huge addition from his call-up day in late June, hitting .276 with four home runs, three triples, four doubles and 19 RBIs in 26 games.

The Phillies have lost 11 straight games to the Angels, which ties the longest losing streak against an opponent in interleague play history, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

Los Angeles is going with the exact same lineup from Wednesday, and why not? The Angels erupted for three homers and seven runs in the third inning to blow out the Phillies.

Tonight, Jerad Eickhoff takes the ball for the Phillies and opposes right-hander Parker Bridwell. For more on the game, read Joe Bloss' game notes right here (see story).
