Is the Sixers’ long search for a new head coach finished?

No, says new general manager Sam Hinkie.

According to a report in the New York Daily News, the Sixers are set to name Spurs assistant coach Brett Brown as the new head man.

“Not true,” Hinkie said.

Brown spent the last seven seasons as an assistant under Gregg Popovich. Before that, Brown was a player development coach for five years with the Spurs. He has also been linked to the head coaching opening with Boston.

As far as Brown’s imminent hiring in Philadelphia, though, Hinkie says it’s not close to happening.

“There was nothing of that substance that happened tonight,” Hinkie said. “There were a lot of things going on and that was not something that happened in the past few hours.”

Instead, after the draft Hinkie was busy putting together the Sixers’ summer league team, which will be coached by Michael Curry, Aaron McKie and Jeff Capel, holdovers from Doug Collins’ staff.

“We’ll turn the page quite soon,” Hinkie said.
