The Union on Friday added a third goalkeeper, signing Jake McGuire, a 2017 draft pick of the Houston Dynamo.

In the only preseason game in which he appeared, McGuire did not let up a goal to the Colorado Rapids.

“We were eager to take a look at Jake in training when we found out that he had become available, and we are excited to bring him aboard officially,” Union sporting director Earnie Stewart said in a statement. “Jake is a tall, athletic goalkeeper who excelled in college with Tulsa. We look forward to having him on the squad and anticipate him getting good experience with Bethlehem Steel FC this season.”

The 6-foot-3 goalkeeper spent his collegiate career at Tulsa, where he played in 67 games and gathered 17 shutouts. In his senior season, McGuire was named to the NSCAA Third-Team All-East Region and the American Athletic Conference All-Tournament Team.
