In a Cy Young race as tight as this one, even an average start is going to negatively affect Aaron Nola's chances. The latest odds from Bovada are proof.
On Aug. 1, Nola was 7/2 (or +350) to win the award.
After allowing three homers and four runs to the Cubs this weekend, he is now 17/2 (or +850).
Jacob deGrom is Bovada's favorite at 4/9. Max Scherzer follows at 9/4.
It's going to be tough to keep the award away from deGrom. He set a major-league record Monday night with his 25th consecutive start allowing three runs or fewer. deGrom has a 1.68 ERA, which is lower than any season from Clayton Kershaw, Pedro Martinez or Randy Johnson.
Nola lines up for five more starts this season: Mets, Marlins, Mets, Braves, Braves.
deGrom also has five more: Phillies, Red Sox, Phillies, Braves, Marlins.

• The Phillies dropped from 8/1 to 14/1 to win the NL pennant. They went from 16/1 to win the World Series to 30/1.
• Their NL East odds went from 13/10 to 3/1. The Braves are heavily favored at 1/4.
• Freddie Freeman, somewhat surprisingly, is the favorite to win NL MVP, followed by Nolan Arenado, Matt Carpenter and Javier Baez.
