This is Chase Utley like you’ve never really seen before.
Normally even-keeled and a bit reserved, when Utley made his final trip back to Philadelphia this season, it brought out the emotion in the 39-year-old veteran.
While his trip back home, where he spent the vast majority of his 16-year MLB career, was covered intensely at the time, no one has been able to capture the essence of The Man like the Dodgers video team.
During this more than 11-minute video, you ride with Utley to the ballpark for his final series against the Phillies, hear from his wife, Jen, discover that Utley notices even the most minor of changes in the ballpark and, above all, get to know Utley, the father and the person, as good as ever before.
The fans have had a couple opportunities over the past few years to show Utley how much he has meant to the city and they’ll get one more chance as he officially retires as a member of the club on June 21.
For now, and forever, we’ll always have the memories.
