Bryce Harper finally gets his first ‘hit' this spring

Share

Bryce Harper is off the schneid! Sort of.

Harper singled in a minor-league game in Clearwater Monday, his first “hit” of spring training. Because it was a minor-league game, it doesn’t count as an official spring training hit, which wouldn’t count anyway because it’s spring training.

Still, it had to feel good for Harper to collect his first knock after going 0 for 8 with four walks and a painful hit by pitch in his first five Grapefruit League games.

The Phillies made a cross-state trip to Jupiter, Fla. on Monday to play the Cardinals. Harper, Rhys Hoskins, J.T. Realmuto and Andrew McCutchen were among the group that did not travel.
