Bryce Harper out again, Phillies hope to avoid IL

Bryce Harper was out of the Phillies' starting lineup for Monday night's game against Milwaukee. It was the fourth time in the last five games that Harper was out of the lineup, all coming after he was hit in the face by a pitch Wednesday night in St. Louis.

Oddly enough, Harper survived the 97-mph pitch to the face just fine. The ball, however, ricocheted off his cheek and struck his left wrist, causing pain and swelling.

"It's his wrist again," manager Joe Girardi said.

Harper played Sunday night and aggravated the wrist.

"Harp is doing OK," Girardi said after Monday's win over the Brewers. "We’ll continue to treat (him). Our plans are not to put him on the IL. He’s day to day, but it’s probably a day or two at least."

Andrew McCutchen and Rhys Hoskins were also out of the lineup against Milwaukee right-hander Adrian Houser. It was not immediately known why they were out.
