Realmuto still out, and Bohm gets start at new position

The Phillies did not announce their starting lineup for Tuesday night’s game against the New York Mets until about two hours before first pitch.

Injuries have forced manager Joe Girardi to do a lot of juggling.

Rhys Hoskins is out with a left elbow strain. He was officially placed on the injured list Tuesday afternoon. He would be eligible to come off on September 23 – if the injury will allow. Hoskins had more tests on his elbow Tuesday. The Phillies are hoping he can avoid surgery.

Rookie Alec Bohm moves over from third base and gets the start at first base in place of Hoskins. It’s Bohm’s first start at first base in the majors. Jean Segura starts at third base and Scott Kingery moves in at second.

J.T. Realmuto played long toss during batting practice but he remains out of the lineup with a hip/quad strain. Andrew Knapp starts at catcher. The Phils hope Realmuto will be able to play in the coming days.

Roman Quinn was activated from the IL. He starts in center field.

Kyle Garlick starts in left field. The Phils hope to get Jay Bruce off the IL in the coming days.

Here is the lineup:

  • Andrew McCutchen DH
  • Bryce Harper RF
  • Alec Bohm 1B
  • Didi Gregorius SS
  • Jean Segura 3B
  • Scott Kingery 2B
  • Andrew Knapp C
  • Kyle Garlick LF
  • Roman Quinn CF

Jake Arrieta is the starting pitcher. Right-hander Rick Porcello goes for the Mets.
