The last we've seen of Mickey Moniak in the majors in 2020?

Phillies rookie outfielder Mickey Moniak was optioned to the alternate site at Lehigh Valley on Sunday, four days after he was called up and made his big-league debut.

It was the corresponding move to activate right-handed pitcher Adonis Medina for Sunday's start against the Blue Jays.

Moniak appeared in five games with the Phillies and went 1 for 9 with three walks, three strikeouts and two runs scored. His line-drive single to right field Friday brought up rookie catcher Rafael Marchan, who hit a three-run homer to tie a game the Phillies went on to win.

It's probably the last we'll see of Moniak in the majors this season, barring another rash of injuries to Phillies outfielders. The Phillies have gotten healthier in the outfield now with Bryce Harper, Andrew McCutchen, Roman Quinn, Adam Haseley, Jay Bruce and Scott Kingery all active.

Moniak, the first overall pick in the 2016 draft, got the call after corner outfielder Kyle Garlick went on the IL with an oblique strain Wednesday. The Phillies cannot recall Moniak again for 10 days unless it's to replace another injured player.

The Phillies did include Moniak among seven outfielders in their 40-man postseason player pool.

The 22-year-old Moniak will likely open the 2021 season at Triple A unless he can win a spot on the Phillies' bench in spring training.
