Before today’s game, Washington Nationals pitcher Max Scherzer sustained an injury while taking part in the team’s bunting drills, according to NBC Sports Washington’s Todd Dybas.
Scherzer took a ball off the face when in the box for pitcher’s BP. He was bunting and it came off the bat. This was caught by MASN cameras. He’s with the trainer now, Martinez said.— Todd Dybas (@Todd_Dybas) June 18, 2019
As you can see in the video above, Scherzer attempts to bunt the ball and the ball deflects off his bat and hits him right in the face.
The Nationals announced in the press box on Tuesday night that Scherzer has a broken nose and his status to make his next scheduled start on Wednesday is up in the air.
You never like to see something like this, even to another NL East team.
