While real human faces weren't seen in the stands at Citizens Bank Park this summer, cardboard cutouts of fans became a staple of Phillies television broadcasts. Over 10,000 fans took part in the program that the Phillies debuted for the 2020 season, raising more than $320,000 for Phillies Charities, Inc. in the process.
What began as a way to honor health care workers and first responders turned into something greater. The Phillies offered the opportunity to season ticket holders to have their faces populate the lower level of CBP for a $25 fee before then allowing the general public to do so for $40 per cutout. Being Philadelphians, people got creative with their choices. Who didn't love seeing cardboard renderings of fans' pets along the third base line this year? It made all those blown saves more palatable.
