Citizens Bank Park reopened Saturday after another round of negative Phillies coronavirus tests

The Phillies have Friday's COVID-19 test results and there were no new positives, the team announced Saturday morning. Citizens Bank Park has been reopened to players for staggered workouts of small groups.

The Phillies have had no players test positive since the season began but have had all seven of their games this week postponed by MLB "out of an abundance of caution" after they hosted a Marlins team last weekend that experienced a coronavirus outbreak.

The Phillies had been barred from accessing their home park since Thursday, when activity at CBP was suspended until further notice when a Phillies coach and home clubhouse attendant tested positive for COVID-19.

This will be only the second time since last Sunday's game against Miami that the Phillies are able to get back into their home park to work out.

The Marlins, in the time since that series finale last Sunday, have had 21 reported positive tests. The Marlins were quarantined in a hotel in Philadelphia all week and, according to ESPN, put their infected players and coaches on a bus from Philly to Miami on Friday. The rest of the team reportedly stayed back in Philly.

There is still no word about the Phillies' next game, though it appears to be Monday in New York against the Yankees. It looks like the Phillies will make up all four of the games they missed against the Yankees this week with games in New York Monday and Tuesday and potentially Citizens Bank Park Wednesday and Thursday. The original schedule had the Phillies off Monday and in Miami to face the Marlins Tuesday through Thursday. That Marlins series obviously will not go down as planned.

As for the Phillies-Blue Jays series postponed this weekend, it could end up becoming a trio of doubleheaders when the Phillies and Jays are set to meet again Sept. 18-20. MLB announced Friday that all doubleheaders this season will be seven innings. There was supposed to be a seven-inning doubleheader Sunday between the Brewers and Cardinals to make up their game postponed Friday after two Cardinals reportedly tested positive. That's in jeopardy after their game Saturday was also postponed following several more reported positive Cardinals tests.

In all, six teams are off Saturday in MLB for COVID-19-related reasons: the Phillies, Marlins, Nationals, Blue Jays, Brewers and Cardinals.
