Tell us, great swami, where will J.T. Realmuto sign?
This is ridiculous. More than three months ago, @YoshkeZoidberg on Twitter predicted the Phillies’ entire front office overhaul.
The date of that tweet was September 17 after a 10-6 Phillies loss to the Mets. It dropped them to 24-25 with 11 games left in the 60-game season. It was pretty clear at that point that another year without making the playoffs (in an expanded eight-team field especially) would cost Matt Klentak his job as the GM. The Phillies went on to lose seven of their final eight games and missed the playoffs for the ninth straight season.
But the other three pieces? Impressive. Titles, too.
Dombrowski was hired as the Phillies’ first-ever president of baseball operations on December 11. Initially, Dombrowski was unsure whether he’d name a general manager. He spent the majority of his time in Boston and Detroit without one. However, he came away impressed by Fuld during a get-to-know-you phone call, and on Tuesday, Fuld was officially introduced as the Phils’ general manager.
More here on the strange path Fuld took to landing the job.
