Things just keep getting worse for the Phillies.
Recently-acquired first baseman Justin Bour (left oblique strain) and reliever Edubray Ramos (right index finger blister) have both been placed on the 10-day disabled list.
In Bour's place, catcher Andrew Knapp has been recalled from Triple A, while LHP Luis Avilan — acquired from the White Sox Wednesday — has reported to the team and is available for today's game vs. the Nationals.
The injuries come at an awful time, as the Phils have dropped four straight and now sit three games behind the Braves in the NL East.
In his nine games with the Phils, Bour was hitting .250, including an RBI double and a solo homer in Wednesday's heartbreaking loss (see story). With the Phillies traveling to Toronto for a weekend set, Bour's power bat would have been a solid option for a designated hitter.
Ramos lands on the DL again, less than a week after returning from a strained left patella tendon.
In 36 innings this season, Ramos has posted a 2.00 ERA to go along with 36 strikeouts. After blowing 4-1 leads the last two nights, Ramos' arm will be missed.

There's some good news, though. Catcher Wilson Ramos was not placed on the disabled list, but is again not in the lineup for a third straight game. Ramos is dealing with a sore wrist but hopes to return Friday vs. the Blue Jays (see story).
