Phil Gosselin starts as Phillies DH, Jean Segura moves up in Game 2 lineup

The Phillies are going with a different looking lineup for Game 2 against the Marlins and left-hander Caleb Smith this afternoon (4:05 p.m. on NBCSP).

Jay Bruce is out of the lineup with Phil Gosselin the DH. Jean Segura moves up from 7 to 5, and Scott Kingery moves up a spot.

1. Andrew McCutchen, LF
2. Rhys Hoskins, 1B
3. Bryce Harper, RF
4. J.T. Realmuto, C
5. Jean Segura, 3B
6. Didi Gregorius, SS
7. Scott Kingery, 2B
8. Phil Gosselin, DH
9. Roman Quinn, CF

The Phillies' other option to DH against the lefty was Kyle Garlick, who had six extra-base hits in just 30 at-bats last season against southpaws with the Dodgers after demolishing them at Triple A. Gosselin presumably got today's start because of how hot he was at the plate during summer camp's exhibition and intrasquad games.

Gosselin and Garlick are the only two right-handed hitters on the Phillies' bench. Adam Haseley and Bruce hit left-handed and backup catcher Andrew Knapp is a switch-hitter.

The Phillies had just five hits Friday in a 5-2 opening day loss, two of them from Gregorius, who stays in the six-spot. Manager Joe Girardi has spoken about wanting to keep a set lineup, but the lineup itself will dictate that with the number of runs it scores.
