Gregorius ramps up recovery, could return next week

The Phillies are getting closer to having their everyday lineup back.

Shortstop Didi Gregorius was with the Triple A Lehigh Valley club on Wednesday to begin a minor-league rehabilitation assignment.

Gregorius has been out of the Phillies’ lineup since May 13 with a bone bruise on his right elbow.

It’s unclear how many games Gregorius will need before the Phillies activate him. It’s doubtful he would be ready by Saturday, when the Phillies open a two-game series with the New York Yankees, but possible he could be ready during the team’s West Coast trip, which begins Monday in Los Angeles. That's barring a setback.

With Gregorius nearing his return, the Phillies are almost whole. Catcher J.T. Realmuto and right fielder Bryce Harper have both returned from the injured list over the last week or so.
