The Phillies made a bullpen move Monday, sending down a reliever the day after his big-league debut.
Mauricio Llovera was optioned to Lehigh Valley and Connor Brogdon was recalled.
The 24-year-old Llovera struggled in his first outing Sunday, allowing four runs on five hits and a walk to the Mets.
Brogdon, 25, debuted on August 13. He made three appearances for the Phillies, giving up three runs in 1⅓ innings to the Orioles, pitching a scoreless inning in Boston, and allowing two runs in one-third of an inning to the Blue Jays.
He was taken deep three times in those three appearances, by Pedro Severino, Rio Ruiz and Lourdes Gurriel Jr.
Brogdon had a strong 2019 season pitching at three different levels (High A, Double A and Triple A). He had a 3.06 ERA and struck out 44 in 32⅓ innings. He has a 2.50 ERA in 180 career minor-league innings.
