The Reading Fightin’ Phils, the Philles’ Double-A affiliate, had its final six home games wiped out, as their opponent, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, are dealing with an outbreak of COVID-19.

The team postponed Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s scheduled games against the Fisher Cats on Monday evening, as the Blue Jays’ affiliate had already begun contact tracing. Their scheduled doubleheader at home against Portland Sunday was canceled.

Thursday afternoon, Reading announced the cancellation on social media.

While the Fisher Cats said on social media that their testing and contact tracing “doesn’t involve any fans, front office members, or game day staff,” the R-Phils did not mention if any team members or staff have tested positive.

However, the team did announce that their season Wrap-Up Party at First Energy Stadium, an event that is open to fans, will go on as scheduled Sunday evening.

The R-Phils, who finish 2021 with a 19-35 home record, will play out their road schedule with a six-game series in Binghamton, beginning next Tuesday.
