One of the Phillies' competitors in the NL East reportedly added a former Cy Young Award winner on Thursday night.
The Atlanta Braves agreed to a deal with free-agent lefty starter Dallas Keuchel, according to The Athletic's David O'Brien. Keuchel's deal is for one year and $13 million, per Yahoo Sports' Tim Brown.
The Phillies currently hold a two-game lead over the Braves in the NL East.
Keuchel spent the first seven seasons of his major-league career with the Houston Astros and has a 76-63 record with a 3.66 ERA. After winning the Cy Young Award in 2015, he's showed signs of decline. Keuchel allowed the most hits in baseball last season.
Jim Salisbury reported last week that the Phillies did not have serious interest in Keuchel.
The other big-name free-agent pitcher on the market, reliever Craig Kimbrel, reportedly agreed to a deal with the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday night. Beginning June 3, draft pick compensation was no longer attached to either pitcher.
