Local college coach hilariously rules himself out as candidate for Sixers job

Two Main Line college coaches ruled themselves out as candidates for the Sixers’ head coaching job on Wednesday afternoon.

About an hour after Jay Wright’s announcement that he’s not a candidate for the position, another member of the local college coaching ranks weighed in ... with a nearly identical statement.

Check his name off the list.

Like Wright, Hughes is a local product, having graduated from Malvern Prep and St. Joseph’s. He’s the all-time career leader in wins at Rosemont, which plays in Division III.

If Elton Brand had any interest in hiring an experienced college coach from the Sixers’ backyard, he might be out of luck. Or maybe there’s someone else out there on the Main Line who’s yet to let us all know they’re not a candidate for the Sixers job.
