What if LeBron James signed with the Sixers in 2018?

As the confetti coated the hardwood and the Lakers celebrated their 17th championship last night, I reflected on how it’s really been a minute since the Sixers hoisted the Larry O’Brien trophy. I

In fact, it wasn’t even called the “Larry O’B” until the year after the last Sixers parade down Broad Street in ‘83 *palms face*.

Two years ago, when LeBron James made his free agency decision and changed coasts, abandoning the Eastern Conference, many thought the Sixers were better constructed to win a championship than the Lakers.

James himself said he seriously considered playing with Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons. Although, at the time many thought it was telling that the Sixers met with James' representatives, but not The King himself.

No matter what level of seriousness you believe James gave to joining the Sixers, time has shown that the franchise still has a steep climb to reach the apex of the NBA’s elite. We went down memory lane on the most recent Sixers Talk podcast, which you can listen to below, but steered clear of the fantastic rumors and speculation which colored social media so heavily that summer. Fun times.
