When is the 2020 NBA Draft?

The Sixers' best chance at adding young, impact talent this offseason remains, as it almost always is, the NBA draft. This year, the draft will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2020.

Newly minted president of basketball operations Daryl Morey might have his eyes set on a monster trade, but the draft is there for snatching up a college star. The Sixers' upcoming first rounder is the the 21st-overall selection, which originally belonged to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The story behind who owned that pick is the most Sixers thing ever. The team actually acquired the pick on two separate occasions. Back in 2016, the Sixers got this top-20 protected pick and Ersan Ilyasova from the Thunder in exchange for Jerami Grant. During the 2017 NBA Draft, Bryan Colangelo dealt the pick to the Orlando Magic for the draft rights to big man Anjezs Pasecniks. Yikes.

In another twist of fate, the Sixers got the pick back from the Magic, along with Jonathon Simmons, for former top pick Markelle Fultz.

On top of that first rounder, the Sixers hold four second-round selections: pick 34 via the Atlanta Hawks, pick 36 via the New York Knicks, their own selection at 49 and the 58th pick by way of the Lakers.
