Wizards will reportedly be without sharpshooter for rest of Sixers series

The Wizards will reportedly be without their best three-point shooter for the remainder of their first-round series against the Sixers.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Tuesday that an MRI revealed a Grade 2 calf strain for Davis Bertans, and that he'll need four to six weeks to recover.

Bertans left in the third quarter of the Wizards' Game 4 win after scoring 15 points on 4-for-7 shooting.

Game 5 of the Sixers-Wizards series will be Wednesday at Wells Fargo Center. The Sixers hold a 3-1 series edge.

Wizards head coach Scott Brooks inserted Bertans into Washington's starting lineup beginning in Game 3 of the series. The Wizards shot 2 for 22 from three-point range in Game 2, and Brooks hoped Bertans could help in that department despite the Latvian forward having just gone 0 for 4 and fouled out in a blowout loss. He also acknowledged the Sixers' size advantages were presenting problems. Bertans replaced the 6-foot-1 Raul Neto in the Wizards' starting five.

For the series, Bertans averaged 9.3 points and 2.8 rebounds, shooting 34.8 percent from long range. He was Washington's top three-point shooter in the regular season, making a team-high 169 threes and converting 39.5 percent of his attempts.

Brooks' Game 4 rotation tweaks were successful. He started Daniel Gafford, who posted 12 points on 4-for-4 shooting and five blocks in 26 minutes. Robin Lopez scored 16 points in a series-high 19 minutes, while Alex Len only played a single first-quarter minute. Bradley Beal, Russell Westbrook and Rui Hachimura all played 42 minutes or more.

For Game 5, Brooks will need to make at least one significant adjustment.

Meanwhile, Joel Embiid is doubtful to play Wednesday night with right knee soreness. He exited Monday's game with that injury and did not return.
