Joel Embiid versus Russell Westbrook in the opener provides plenty of storylines and that’s just game 1.
So how will the entire season play out?
PointsBet, NBC Sports official betting partner, has listed the Sixers regular season win total at 43. This upcoming season teams are scheduled to only play 72 games as opposed to the normal 82.
43 wins translates to a 59.7 win%. Last year, the Sixers over/under closed at 54.5 wins before the season began. That works out to a 66.4 win%. One thing we all know with the Sixers is load management needs to be factored in and can affect their overall win total on the year.
As for winning the title, the Sixers are tied with the 6th best odds of +2000 ($10 bet to win $200). A season ago they entered with odds of +650 ($10 bet to win $65) to be crowned champions.
Competition in the East is fierce once again. The Bucks, Nets, and Celtics are all ahead of the Sixers, while the defending Eastern Conference champion Heat have the same +2000 odds.
Milwaukee added Jrue Holiday to pair with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Brooklyn will have Kevin Durant team up with Kyrie Irving. Additionally, Boston, who swept the Sixers out of the playoffs this past summer, remains a tough matchup as well as the Heat and Raptors.
New Sixers President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey did supply Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons with help along the perimeter by acquiring Seth Curry and Danny Green. Plus Tobias Harris is reunited with his former Clippers coach, Doc Rivers.
This is just the beginning and it’s certainly not a sprint. Let’s just hope this marathon has no bumps in the road.
