Sixers bringing back Blue x White scrimmage after a year off

After a year off due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Sixers are bringing back their annual Blue x White scrimmage, the team announced Monday.

The free event will take place this Saturday at 12:15 p.m. at Chase Fieldhouse in Wilmington, Delaware, where the Delaware Blue Coats play.

A limited number of tickets for fans can be purchased by visiting this link Wednesday at 1 p.m. and entering the promo code BWSGP, the team said in its press release. All fans at the scrimmage must wear masks. Doors will open at 11:45 a.m.

The scrimmage will be streamed at Sixers.com and on the Sixers' social media pages.

Much has changed since the last Blue x White scrimmage, both for the Sixers and the world at large. Back in 2019, Ben Simmons' three-point shooting was an object of pregame fascination. Matisse Thybulle shined in the scrimmage, racking up deflections and head-turning steals and blocks.

Simmons has requested a trade and held out of training camp — he's not with the Sixers for their preseason opener Monday night against the Raptors — while Thybulle is coming off of an All-Defensive Second Team selection.

Saturday's scrimmage comes in between the Sixers' second and third preseason game. After two matchups with the Raptors, the Sixers will conclude exhibition play with a home game next Monday vs. the Nets and a road game next Friday against the Pistons.
