How Embiid’s injury has affected Sixers’ championship odds

We don’t know how long Sixers center Joel Embiid will be out with what the team said is a small lateral meniscus tear in his right knee.

However, what we do know is that sportsbooks have acted quickly in adjusting the lines for Sixers’ futures.

Since the news of Embiid’s injury was released, NBC Sports betting partner PointsBet has increased the Sixers’ odds to win the Eastern conference from +425 to +650 ($10 bet to win $65).

In terms of winning the championship, the Sixers have gone from +1000 to +1300 ($10 bet to win $130).

Despite Embiid’s status in question for the rest of the first round vs. the Wizards, the Sixers remain heavy favorites to advance thanks in part to their 3-1 lead.

Those numbers have dipped a little with the Sixers going from -10000 to -5000 ($5,000 bet to win $100) to move on to the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

The Wizards are now +1400 ($10 bet to win $140) to upset the Sixers. Before the Embiid news came out, Washington was listed at +2200.
