NBA 2K22 is released next week, and Sixers fans will get their latest chance to play as Joel Embiid. The Sixers’ big man boasts a 95 rating this year, just one tick below the top ratings given in the game. LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, and Giannis Antetokounmpo were each rated 96.

Every year a new NBA2K version comes out, there are new features and tweaks that its producer, 2K Games, hopes make gameplay more fun and customizable for the gamer. This year 2K has added something to make the game experience even more authentic: all 30 public address announcers will be featured in the game.

That means Sixers fans will get to hear the venerable Matt Cord introduce the players pregame, and all the juice Cord brings to games at the Wells Fargo Center.

Matt is entering his 25th season as the Sixers’ PA announcer, and anyone who's gone to a home game knows that he is a big part of the in-game experience. His authoritative growl is perfect for Sixers basketball.

Cord was interviewed about being added to NBA 2K22 this week.

“I have nieces and nephews and they’re like, ‘NBA2K? Really? Uncle Matt, do you know how to play it?’ I’m like ‘No, but I might be in it,’ so yeah, it’s really neat, it’s really special.

“I truly believe that me and the fans help get wins! Forces the team to call a time out because of us, forces turnovers because of us. It’s me getting them going, and it’s pretty neat, it’s a pretty special experience.”

NBA 2K22 is available for pre-order now and will be released to the public on Sept. 10.
