Chester’s own Jameer Nelson is coming home.
Sources tell NBC Sports Philadelphia the Sixers and general manager Elton Brand are hiring the former Saint Joseph's standout as a scout and assistant GM for the Delaware Blue Coats, the organization's G-League team.
Nelson, 38, starred for the Saint Joe’s Hawks from 2000 until 2004, helping the school to its undefeated 27-0 regular season in 2003-04.
He became an NBA All-Star after turning pro. His playing career ended in 2018 with his last stop the Detroit Pistons. He also played for the Mavericks, Celtics, Magic, Nuggets and Pelicans during his 14-year career.
Now, he is getting into the management side of the NBA with the Sixers.
