WATCH: Embiid breaks down crying with son during MVP ceremony

The best basketball player in the world was recognized for his greatness Friday night in South Philly.

Sixers superstar Joel Embiid received his MVP trophy ahead of Game 3 of the team's second round playoff series against the Celtics, and it was a scene.

Embiid addressed Sixers fans after hoisting the trophy over his head, truly an incredible accomplishment for a young man who began his life across the Atlantic Ocean.

And then the truly special moment came when Embiid's son, Arthur, ran out to embrace his father during his crowning achievement moment:

Holy cow.

Embiid is someone who proudly wears his heart on his sleeve, and it's a big part of why he's formed such a strong bond with Sixers fans during his time in this city. He lets Philadelphia know who he is and gives us all of himself, and the love has been a two-way street.

Imagine reaching the mountain top of your life-long dream, with your fiancée and your parents in the house, and watching your child run to you with a beaming smile as an entire arena showers you with love. I can't imagine the emotions Embiid was feeling.

Sports are special.
