The Tyrese Maxey Year 3 hype is reaching a boiling point and we're still two months away from the start of the 2022-23 NBA regular season.

The most recent development in the hype train came Monday night when Maxey jumped in the Rumph Classic, the annual Philly summer basketball tournament, and absolutely balled out.Ā

Maxey joined Team FOE for the tournament's championship game and casually dropped 34 points at Tom Gola Arena on La Salle's campus, unleashing a full barrage of what makes his offensive game so deadly.

Let's enjoy some highlights from the evening.

Here's a pull-up three from just inside half-court:

Here's a slick cross-court one-handed dime to Sixers teammate Isaiah Joe, who scored 16 points on Monday night:

Here's a nice triple from a stand-still with a defender up on him:

This is a nasty behind-the-back dribble into a side step move from deep:

And here's a great court-level compilation of Maxey's night from noted basketball content creator 8eye Media (one of my favorite follows on Instagram) that really gives you a feel for Maxey's speed:

The dude is just so, so good at basketball. He's been working all offseason and it's showing. I have a feeling he's going to have a Most Improved Player-type year.

In a post-game interview Maxey said he was just happy to come out and "make a couple shots", which is hilarious. He also said he appreciated being able to bring NBA talent to the fans in North Philly who told him they can't always make it out to the Wells Fargo Center for Sixers games, and said he'll be back for next year's Rumph Classic - where he plans to play in multiple games, not just the title game.

He's a baller, he loves Philly, and he fully gets the city. What a guy.
