Flyers fans explode on social media over new coaching hire

Flyers fans explode on social media over new coaching hire

There’s a new head coach in town.

On Monday, the Flyers officially announced Alain Vigneault as the 21st head coach in franchise history. Vigneault has 1,216 games of NHL coaching experience, most recently with the New York Rangers from 2013-18 (see story).

The Flyers posted the big announcement on Twitter and fans replied with some negative reactions.

While some fans weren’t happy with the hire, many remained optimistic.

What do you think of the hire?

Bryce and Kayla Harper announce pregnancy with adorable social media posts

Bryce and Kayla Harper announce pregnancy with adorable social media posts

Another Harper is coming to Philly!

On Monday, Bryce Harper announced on social media that he and his wife Kayla are expecting a baby boy in August. The expecting couple posed in front of the Ben Franklin Bridge to make the announcement and even had an adorable Baby Harper jacket made for the occasion.

When Harper first signed his 13-year, $330 million deal with the Phillies in March, he mentioned that it wasn’t just about money. It was about spending his career in one city, adding "Beyond the money, years were important to me, being able to put down some roots and grow a family. At the end of this, I could have a couple of kids and they could be able to say they're from Philly."

It looks like Bryce will get his wish. Baby Boy Harper will be born and raised in Philadelphia.

Congratulations to Bryce and Kayla!

Phillies grace cover of Sports Illustrated for first time in eight years

Phillies grace cover of Sports Illustrated for first time in eight years

The “new-look Phillies” are Sports Illustrated official.

With opening day approaching quickly, four Phillies are on this week’s cover of Sports Illustrated, posing with the words “Loved in Philly, feared everywhere else”.

Nothing like creating some hype for opening day by being on the cover of SI, right?

Looking at Bryce Harper in red and white pinstripes will never get old, but seeing him posing with teammates Aaron Nola, Rhys Hoskins and J.T. Realmuto is quite a sight. All four guys are smiling and looking ready to start this season.

So far, it’s been a big year for Philly sports, as the Sixers were just on the cover in February and the Eagles were there in January. Back-to-back-to-back months with Philly teams on the cover? Not too shabby.

This is the first time the Phillies have been on the cover of Sports Illustrated since 2011, after a run of some pretty iconic covers.

We’re hoping this will be the first of many covers for this group.
