The Gritty butter sculpture is here and it's slightly terrifying

If you were worried about 2020 getting off to a bad start, you can stop worrying and start clogging your arteries because we're only two days into the decade and we've already been gifted a sculpture of Gritty made out of butter.

The buttery Gritty is joined by a few fatty friends, the Philadelphia Eagles' mascot Swoop and the Pittsburgh Steelers' mascot Steely McBeam.

The trio are part of the 30th Annual Butter Sculpture exhibit at the Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg where they went for an "East Meets West" theme this year — we're talking Pennsylvania here.

“The sculpture was constructed over a 14-day period by artists Jim Victor and Marie Pelton of Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, using more than 1,000 pounds of butter donated by Land O’ Lakes in Carlisle, Cumberland County," according to a release.

One thousand pounds of butter? As one famous pudding connoisseur once said, "that's a whole lotta butter."

If you're anything at all like me, your mind instantly went from the Gritty butter sculpture to the thought of his best friend Claude Giroux and a whole lotta greasy grilled cheese sandwiches. Sadly, the butter will not be slathered on bread and turned into delectable snacks.

"Following the Farm Show, the butter will be moved to the Reinford Farm in Juniata County to be converted into renewable energy in the farm’s methane digester."

Basically the same end result, I guess.

Flyers mascot Gritty surprises patients at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia

Flyers mascot Gritty surprises patients at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia

Gritty and the Flyers' ice team brought smiles to the faces of patients on the oncology floor at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

It was an awesome surprise Wednesday as the Flyers provided Love Your Melon hats and tickets to the team's Hockey Fights Cancer game on Nov. 25 against the Canucks.

Gritty and company took pictures, handed out gifts and, most importantly, gave the kids a fun day (which you can watch in the video above, with footage courtesy of the Flyers).

The Flyers truly do wonderful work in the community and so does the NHL with its Hockey Fights Cancer initiative.

Lindsey Vonn gets back at Flyers mascot Gritty for his trolling of P.K. Subban

Lindsey Vonn gets back at Flyers mascot Gritty for his trolling of P.K. Subban

Touché, Lindsey Vonn … touché.

Gritty, a master of trolling, can respect another one’s work.

If you recall, the Flyers’ mascot had a message for the gold medal-winning Olympic skier who is engaged to Devils defenseman P.K. Subban.

Gritty took a shot at Subban during warmups before the Flyers-Devils game on Oct. 9 at the Wells Fargo Center.

Pretty good.

So Vonn got Gritty where it hurts … his competition.

Ouch.

Gritty won’t love this as he scrolls through his social media accounts. He’s pretty busy, so he’ll see it eventually.

As for the Devils’ mascot, let’s hope he’s staying away from all windows at Halloween parties.
