Ben Simmons: 'I actually had a poster of Allen Iverson in my room'

Ben Simmons: 'I actually had a poster of Allen Iverson in my room'

Allen Iverson welcomed Ben Simmons to Philadelphia just minutes after he was selected first overall in the 2016 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers. A.I. also had some words of wisdom for the fellow No. 1 pick.

As it turns out, the duo may have shared a room together back in the day. Sort of.

Simmons was asked about what he remembered about Allen Iverson from growing up and the Australian shared that he had an Allen Iverson poster in his room as a kid.

"A lot of people don't know that I actually had a poster of A.I. in my room when I was young in my room. It was a big diamond-cut poster of him with the braids. I just remember him being one of those small guys, the point guard with braids, cornrows, and the headband. I remember I had some of those cornrows when I was younger.  He's one of those players that just fought everyday."

Simmons was also asked about his favorite cheesesteak, Pat's or Geno's? And he told the audience he's already had a Delasandro's (on Jimmy Fallon).

"Cheesesteaks, I'm going to find a lot of them," he said.

Eagles' quarterback Carson Wentz may want to come.

Fan who ran into subway pole gets big surprise from the Eagles

Here’s a story that has a happy ending.

Remember the guy who ran into the pole in the infamous viral video from before the NFC Championship Game? Of course you do. Well, things have turned out alright for Jigar Desai because he’s going to see his favorite football team play in London ... for free.

“From ‘mind the pillars’ to ‘Mind the Gap’… London, here we come!” Desai told the Associated Press.

Because of the wildly popular viral nature of the video, the NFL reached out to Desai and got him involved with a short film in which he returns to the scene of the crime, talks about his love for the Eagles, makes peace with the pillar he is famous for colliding with and is awarded free tickets to see the Eagles play in London from Swoop and the cheerleaders.

So, there you have it. We hope Jigar and his family have a great time in London and cheer the Eagles to victory. He posted a little more insight on social media in response to NBCSPhilly's tweet.

Have a safe trip.

Former Phillie Erik Kratz admits to taking $2,000 dare

Philly fans probably remember Erik Kratz most for his pretty funny commercials promoting Godshall's Quality Meats, specifically its turkey bacon.

But Kratz's name found its way back onto our radar this MLB postseason because of his surprising performance for the Milwaukee Brewers in the postseason.

We wrote about his unexpected turn in the spotlight this October about a week ago. You can check that out here. The Brew Crew face elimination this weekend at the hands of the Dodgers, but we're here to talk about a Kratz story that took place way back on opening day in 2016 down in Texas when Kratz played with the Houston Astros.

ESPN's Buster Olney posted the video today of Kratz stumbling out of the dugout, taking a header into the ground, and says it was on purpose.

"Heard a classic story about the highly respected and greatly appreciated Erik Kratz today: When the Astros went through Opening Day intros in 2016, an Astro offered $1,000 to anybody who would do a face plant. Kratz: I'll do it."

Kratz responded to Olney's tweet pointing out that he actually did it for $2,000 but would have settled for $250.

Long live #TurkeyBacon.
