Bud Light to honor Eagles' Super Bowl LII victory with ‘Philly Special'-themed commemorative packs

First things first, Bud Light is not a good beer. If you like beer, Philly has plenty of better options — Yards Brewery in Northern Liberties,  Evil Genius in Fishtown and Victory Brewery Company in Downingtown, to name a few.

But the latest Bud Light deal coming to town is a very good deal, and it most certainly will sell plenty of products around here.

Bud Light on Thursday revealed its limited edition "Philly Special"-themed Super Bowl LII commemorative pack that will hit stores Aug. 16, when the Eagles head to Foxboro for a preseason rematch with the Patriots.

According to a press release, there are only 20,418 packs available — and that was done on purpose. The Eagles beat the Patriots in Super Bowl LII on Feb. 4, 2018, or 2/4/18.

Each pack will cost $29.99 and will include a 25 oz. Bud Light aluminum bottle and two glasses with the "Philly Special" play on it. A select number of packs will allow fans a chance to receive tickets for the Eagles' season-opener Sept. 6 against Atlanta.

Etched on the bottles, of course, is the final score of Super Bowl LII: 41-33.

Super Bowl champions Lane Johnson and Brandon Brooks got an early commemorative pack:

Of course, we knew something was up since these delivery trucks were spotted around town last Saturday.

We can trash Bud Light all we want for its taste. It's not good nor is it enjoyable, but it's cheap — not all of us can afford IPAs — and gets the job done. Remember, drink responsibly. Always.

But we have to tip our hats to its marketing team. Bud Light sure knows how to sell a product, whether it's Pitbull's "Don't Stop the Party" (you know you loved those commercials) to "Dilly Dilly" and now these Super Bowl LII commemorative packs.

Now only if the beer was better. But you can't win them all.
