Some Eagles fans are going to be very mad on Monday night and it will have nothing to do with what’s happening on the field. ESPN’s Monday Night Football rolls into town for the first time this season, and with it, Booger McFarland’s “Booger Mobile” will too, blocking hundreds of fans who paid a lot of money.
ESPN introduced a new crew this season for their coverage of one of the week’s marquee games that includes former Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten and former Tampa Bay Buccaneers DT Booger McFarland. While Eagles fans at home will probably be annoyed to hear yet another former Cowboy broadcast an Eagles game, fans at the game will absolutely be annoyed by McFarland.
Just look at what Eagles fans, paying a lot of money for tickets close to the field, will have to deal with.
As the play moves, so does McFarland, and instead of watching the play unfold in front of you, fans may have to stare directly at the Booger Mobile and a TV instead.
ESPN has heard the complaints and doesn’t care, either. Here’s what they told Sporting News.
“The unique field-level perspective that the cart provides is an enhancement to our ‘Monday Night Football’ coverage. It is constantly moving up and down the sideline throughout the game, rarely in one spot for an extended period of time. The cart is also equipped with a large monitor so fans can see the game telecast.”
Update: It has been brought to our attention that ESPN might actually care! After weeks of complaints, they have installed a glass backing on the Booger Mobile.
Credit where it's due, although, we'll still have to deal with Witten at home.
