Jimmy Rollins remembers knowing Roy Halladay was 'someone special'

It's been a tough week for Phillies fans with the loss of legendary pitcher and all-around great human Roy Halladay.

But the Philadelphia baseball community has come together to share their remembrances of Doc to help ease the pain and celebrate his life. From Chase Utley to Flyers players to writers who covered him so closely, there have been many beautiful thoughts shared on Halladay's life.

Some people take longer than others to put their feelings into words. Roy's teammate and longtime Phillie Jimmy Rollins posted his own thoughts on Doc to Instagram on Friday along with a celebratory image.

I remember the first time meeting Roy...not the guy in a uniform but the man in a Nike shirt, shorts n flip flops on our annual Nike baseball trips and thinking to myself how much I’d love to play with that guy! How many championships would we win if we had a guy like Roy taking the mound every 5 days?!! Then thinking shoot I’ll go play for his team because I want to see what it is that makes him so great! I didn’t fulfill my end of the bargain by winning a championship while sharing the same uniform as Doc but seeing the joy on his face while popping bottles is a memory that endures forever! All that have met, played, laughed, spoke, ate, had a drink or did anything under the sun with Roy realized at some point in that moment that u were in the presence of something...someone SPECIAL!! #RipDoc#foreveryoung

Flyers mascot Gritty absolutely destroyed another mascot on social media

By now, you’ve probably seen that adorable video of Gritty experiencing snow for the very first time. It’s sweet and precious, just like our Gritty.

The video has spread to tons of different outlets on social media, where the love for Gritty is flowing faster than the snow no one expected. Here it is again, in case you missed it.

However, as it hits timelines across the league, it appears that not everyone is impressed with the video. It seems that some of the other mascots across the NHL have become a bit ticked that Gritty is getting all the love.

Bailey, the LA Kings mascot, seems bit angry that Gritty is getting all this attention. Or maybe he’s ticked that he isn’t also getting snow. He had a few things to say on a repost of the video on social media.

Because Gritty is well, Gritty, he couldn’t let that one go and fired back with an absolute roast of the other mascot. See his response for yourself.

We have no words, beyond well played Gritty, well played. As far as we’re concerned, Gritty is undefeated in this league.

Gritty enjoys the wonders of snow for the first time in his life

Philadelphia was treated to something of a surprise snowstorm Thursday morning.

Weather people are not in mid-season form. They're rusty so to speak. So the accumulation this morning caught plenty of people by surprise.

But there's a bright side to the inconvenience. We all get to witness Gritty, the Flyers young mascot, experience snow for the first time. It did not disappoint.

"Zamboni dust." Hehe.

The guy from North Dakota across the street was less in awe and more in love with the flakes:
