Jon Dorenbos has completed his final act as a member of the Eagles. On Monday night, Dorenbos, who signed with the Eagles nearly 11 years ago and played in 162 games for the team, was traded to the New Orleans Saints for a seventh-round pick in 2019 (see story).
A fan favorite because of his personality, third-place finish on America’s Got Talent for his magic act, and his play on the field (a two-time Pro Bowler), there was a very strong reaction on social media to the move.
His now ex-teammates sent messages of support.
Incredible person and one heck of a teammate. @JonDorenbos you will be missed my brother. Wishing you the best!

The fan reaction, however, was as negative as we have seen in recent memory for a trade. Here’s a sampling of how the fans are reacting to the move.

Honestly somewhat outraged. #Eagles trade LS Jon Dorenbos to #Saints for 7th round pick.

weak trade on the Eagles part. Saved pennies on the dollar for a durable LS and great locker room presence

@Eagles So sad to hear of the trade of Jon Dorenbos #angryfan

Dorenbos was actually the second long snapper traded today as the Colts traded for long snapper Thomas Hennessy. Howie Roseman must like the value of a draft pick for the 37-year-old Dorenbos, but he’ll hear from a lot of angry fans should the Eagles have any snapping issues this season.
