ORLANDO, Fla. (June 21, 2017) – The PGA TOUR heads to Connecticut for the Travelers Championship, where three of the world’s top-6 players – Rory McIlroy (No. 3), Jason Day (No. 4) and Jordan Spieth (No. 6) – are in the field. Fellow top-10 players in the world – Sergio Garcia and Henrik Stenson – are in Germany this week for the BMW International Open, where Stenson looks to defend his 2016 title, which came just weeks before the Swede’s first major win. The PGA TOUR Champions head to Wisconsin for the second annual American Family Insurance Championship, with Steve Stricker scheduled to tee it up in his home state. Lydia Ko and Michelle Wie headline the field at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship, with the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship set to get underway next week outside Chicago. The PGA Professional Tournament concludes this evening with final round coverage offering the opportunity for one of the most underrated, compelling moments in golf television with the potential for an overly crowded playoff for those vying to earn a spot in August’s PGA Championship.

Playoff possibilities: Playoffs at the PGA Professional Championship are unique, and inevitable. In 2016, seven men were in a playoff vying for the lone remaining spot left.
PGA Championship invite on the line: The top-20 finishers next Wednesday will earn a spot in the 2017 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, NC. The field of 312 professionals teeing it up includes 14 past champions of the event.
Familiar venue: This is the fourth time since 2001 that Sunriver Resort will host the PGA Professional Championship, with the most recent being in 2013. Crosswater Club hosted the 2006 NCAA Division I Championship, won by Oklahoma State, who also claimed the individual champion, Jonathan Moore. The PGA TOUR Champions also staged the Regions Tradition at Crosswater Club from 2007-2010, with winners including Mark McNulty (2007), Fred Funk (2008, 2010) and Mike Reed (2009).
