STAMFORD, Conn. – Jan. 19, 2022 – NBC Sports presents more than 70 hours of tournament coverage this week with five events across the PGA TOUR, LPGA Tour, PGA TOUR Champions, DP World Tour, and Asian Tour, highlighted by the LPGA Tour’s 2022 season opening event – the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions from Lake Nona Golf & Country Club in Orlando, Fla.

LPGA TOUR: HILTON GRAND VACATIONS TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS

The 2022 LPGA Tour season begins this week at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions from Lake Nona Golf & Country Club in Orlando, Fla. The tournament field features LPGA Tour winners from the past two seasons. Jessica Korda is the defending champion.

Celebrities also participate as part of this annual event, featuring Annika Sorenstam, John Smoltz, Mardy Fish, and Larry Fitzgerald this week.

Live coverage gets underway Thursday at Noon ET on GOLF Channel.

Following two weeks in Hawaii, the PGA TOUR returns to the continental U.S. with The American Express from La Quinta, Calif. Phil Mickelson, who serves as tournament host and will participate this week, is a two-time winner of the event (2002, 2004).

PGA TOUR SENTRY TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS AND SONY OPEN ON GOLF CHANNEL AND NBC BOTH DELIVER DOUBLE-DIGIT VIEWERSHIP GAINS VS. 2021

NBC Sports’ four-day coverage of the Sony Open on GOLF Channel averaged 314,000 viewers, up 21% vs. 2021 (259,000), following a 17% viewership increase for the Sentry Tournament of Champions to open the 2022 PGA TOUR calendar year.

This marks the first time in 10 years that NBC Sports and GOLF Channel have posted double-digit viewership increases for their first two PGA TOUR events, dating back to 2012 when the Sentry TOC was up 11% and the Sony Open was up 15%, respectively.

PGA TOUR CHAMPIONS: MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC CHAMPIONSHIP AT HUALALAI

The 2022 PGA TOUR Champions season begins with the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai in Hawaii at Hualalai Golf Course. The field features six World Golf Hall of Famers as well as former World No. 1 David Duval, who will make his debut on the circuit.

Live coverage begins in primetime Thursday at 7 p.m. ET on GOLF Channel.

The SMBC Singapore Open from Sentosa Golf Club (Serapong) is the final event of the 2020-21 Asian Tour season. The tournament is part of the Open Qualifying Series, with the top four finishers who haven’t already qualified for the 2022 Open at St. Andrews earning spots into the field.
