NEW YORK- July 18, 2012— TheNBC Sports Network’s coverage of the 2012 IZOD IndyCar Series continues this weekend in primetime with the Edmonton Indy on Sunday, July 22 at 2 p.m. ET live from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The race will be preceded by a new episode of IndyCar 36 featuring James Hinchcliffe at Noon, and by live coverage of Firestone Indy Lights at 12:30 p.m. ET. IndyCar qualifying coverage airs live on Saturday, July 21 at 6:30 p.m. ET.

JON BEEKHUIS ON THIS WEEK’S RACE: “With the change of configuration last year in Edmonton, the teams quickly found out the long straights and tight corners meant it was all about brakes and traction. This track really rewards the ‘late-braker’, so aggressive and sometimes too aggressive moves have been the norm. The 2012 IndyCar has a new carbon fiber brake package and coupled with the new blocking/defending rules, the action could be even fiercer.”
