STAMFORD, Conn. – April 23, 2020 – NBC Sports’ Olympic Games Week continues tonight at 7 p.m. ET on NBCSN, highlighted by the U.S. women’s basketball team’s Olympic dominance. Four (1996, 2000, 2004 and 2016 Olympic Games) of their six consecutive gold medal victories will be presented and feature stars Diana Taurasi, Sue Bird, Lisa Leslie, and more.
NBC Olympics primetime host Mike Tirico will introduce nightly coverage throughout the week. Programming will also stream on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app. Coverage of Olympic Sports on NBC Sports Group platforms is a presentation of Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA.

1996 GOLD MEDAL GAME: USA VS. BRAZIL AT 7 P.M. ET
Following a bronze medal performance at the Barcelona Games in 1992, the U.S. women’s basketball team has captured gold at each of the past six Olympics. This historic streak began at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, where the U.S. won all eight of its games, including the gold medal game against Brazil, 111-87. The team was led by Leslie, Sheryl Swoopes and Dawn Staley. All three are members of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
2000 GOLD MEDAL GAME: USA VS. AUSTRALIA AT 8:30 P.M. ET
Similar to the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, the U.S. women’s team went undefeated at the Sydney Olympics behind the play of Leslie, Swoopes, Staley and Teresa Edwards. In the gold medal game, the U.S. defeated host nation Australia, 76-54.
2004 GOLD MEDAL GAME: USA VS. AUSTRALIA AT 10 P.M. ET
For a third consecutive Olympics, the U.S. won all eight games in Athens on their way to a gold medal, again defeating Australia in the final. Leslie led the team in scoring, and was joined by fellow Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer Tina Thompson, as well as eventual four-time Olympic gold medalists Diana Taurasi and Sue Bird.
2016 GOLD MEDAL GAME: USA VS. SPAIN AT 12 A.M. ET
At the Rio Olympics in 2016, the U.S. women’s basketball team continued its Olympic dominance. The Americans defeated Spain to win their sixth straight gold medal and 49th consecutive Olympic game. The team was led by Taurasi, Bird, and Breanna Stewart, who were coached in Rio by their University of Connecticut head coach Geno Auriemma, who won his second gold medal with the team.

More Than Gold: Jesse Owens and the 1936 Berlin Olympics, narrated by Academy Award winner Morgan Freeman, chronicles Jesse Owens’ historic four-gold-medal performance at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin, Germany. The documentary follows Owens’ journey during the Berlin Games and explores the context and historical impact of the 1936 Olympics.
