The event will be contested at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan, marking its return to the city for the first time since the widely-documented championships leading into the 1994 Lillehammer Olympics.
Live TV coverage begins tomorrow, Jan. 24 with the pairs’ short program at 5 p.m. ET and the ladies’ short program at 9 p.m. ET on NBCSN. Highlighting the men’s field is Chen, who seeks his third consecutive U.S. title. Chen won both of his Grand Prix Series events in the fall and repeated as the Grand Prix Final champion in December, becoming the first U.S. man to win two Grand Prix Final titles. At the PyeongChang Olympics last February, he won a bronze medal in the team competition.
In an unpredictable ladies’ field, reigning national champion and Olympic team medalist Bradie Tennell aims for a repeat victory. Reigning 2018 world silver medalists Madison Hubbell and Zach Donohue are likely to lead the ice dance event.

On the men’s side, 2018 Olympic bronze medalist and two-time world champion Javier Fernandez of Spain seeks his seventh consecutive European title. France’s ice dance Olympic silver medalists Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron are favorites to win the competition for the fifth straight year.
