Yahoo Sports – NBC Sports Network Digital Alliance Sets Record for Uniques in September

September was a month of big events for NBC Sports Group as it saw the start of the NFL season, the start of Notre Dame Football, the culmination of the PGA TOUR season with the FedExCup Playoffs, the return of the Ryder Cup, and continuing coverage of Formula One and Premier League.

The result was record setting for the Yahoo Sports-NBC Sports Network, as the digital alliance attracted 73.7 million unique users in September, a monthly record for the alliance; up 17% vs. Sept. 2013 (63.2 million); and the second-most uniques among all sports digital sites for the month, according to comScore.

In addition, Yahoo-NBC Sports generated nearly 5 billion minutes of consumption (4.994 billion) in September, the second-most in alliance history, trailing only Feb. 2014, which generated 5.021 billion minutes on the strength of the XXII Olympic Winter Games from Sochi, Russia. The nearly 5 billion minutes were also second most among all sports sites in September.

RotoWorld Partners With RotoGrinders For Daily Fantasy Content

With interest in daily fantasy sports growing exponentially, RotoWorld and RotoGrinders announced a partnership last week that will provide fantasy players with the most comprehensive daily fantasy content. RotoWorld, a division of NBC Sports Digital, is the leading fantasy sports information destination, while RotoGrinders is the leading website focused exclusively on daily fantasy sports content and games.

Per the agreement, RotoGrinders will supply exclusive daily fantasy sports content for RotoWorld’s new Daily section. The content will consist of both columns and videos, and will serve NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL and college football daily fantasy players.

In exchange, RotoGrinders’ content and its incentive packages will receive exposure to Rotoworld’s large fantasy sports audience through banner advertising, links and other prominent placements throughout, including the new Daily section.

Flyers-Bruins Posts Digital Consumption Records

The Flyers-Bruins NHL Opening Night game on Wed., Oct. 8, set records for NBC Sports Live Extra, NBC Sports Group’s live streaming product for desktops, mobile devices and tablets. The game delivered 41,000 uniques and 1.6 million minutes, the best-ever in both categories for an authenticated regular-season NHL game.

#SNF’s Week 5 Game Ranks as the #1 Social Show on both Cable and Broadcast, According to Nielsen Social Guide

SNF’s Week 5 game between the Cincinnati Bengals and New England Patriots was the #1 show for both cable and broadcast on Sunday, Oct. 5, according to Nielsen Social Guide, with 567,000 tweets sent around the time of the broadcast with a unique Twitter audience of 6.2 million people. The hash tag #SNF garnered 95 million potential impressions (up 15.8% vs. Week 4) during the week with a total reach of 27 million people (up 31.9% vs. Week 4).

#LeahStrong is a hash tag to show support for Cincinnati Bengals defensive lineman Devon Still’s four-year old daughter, Leah, who is battling a rare form of cancer called neuroblastoma.

The SNF Social team posted a #LeahStrong screen grab from the broadcast, which resonated on Twitter and Facebook and had the most engagement on both platforms than any post or tweet of the week.

On Facebook, #LeahStrong reached 2,052,096 people, with 85,235 “Likes,” and more than 3,500 shares. On twitter, the photo had 11,500 retweets.
