STAMFORD, Conn. – January 7, 2019 – NHL on NBC continues its “New Year’s Goals” campaign – celebrating 11 different hockey matchups during the first 11 days of 2019 – with five games this week on NBCSN, headlined by a Wednesday Night Hockey showdown between P.K. Subban and the Nashville Predators and Patrick Kane and the Chicago Blackhawks at 8 p.m. ET.
This week’s coverage begins tonight at 10:30 p.m. ET, as Anze Kopitar and the Los Angeles Kings visit Erik Karlsson and the San Jose Sharks. Coverage shifts to Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, when Alex Ovechkin and the defending Stanley Cup champion Capitals host Claude Giroux and the Philadelphia Flyers at 7:30 p.m. ET. NBCSN’s NHL coverage concludes Thursday, as the Minnesota Wild host the Winnipeg Jets at 8 p.m. ET.
In a nod to the many goals that will be scored by the players on the ice in January, and the annual New Year’s Day tradition of setting goals for the new year, NBC Sports will share and highlight “New Year’s Goals” and resolutions from members of the NHL on NBC on-air team, players, fans, and others. The campaign will feature on-air segments, promotions, and graphics on NBC and NBCSN.
In addition, “New Year’s Goals” social media elements will be shared across Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, NBCSports.com and NBC Sports Digital’s portfolio of platforms.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT HOCKEY – PREDATORS AT BLACKHAWKS AT 8 P.M. ET ON NBCSN
One of the leading teams in the Western Conference, Nashville (25-15-3, 53 pts) is currently just one point behind the Winnipeg Jets for first place in the Central Division. P.K. Subban recorded his 300th career assist in the Predators’ 4-1 defeat of the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday.
The Blackhawks (16-21-7, 39 pts) have won three of their last five games, including a 5-3 victory on Sunday night on NBCSN to snap the Penguins’ eight-game win streak. Kane, who paces Chicago with 23 goals, 31 assists and 54 points, recorded three assists in the win.
Six-time Emmy Award-winner Mike ‘Doc’ Emrick, U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame member Eddie Olczyk, and ‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst Pierre McGuire will have the call from United Center. Kathryn Tappen hosts NHL Live alongside analysts Mike Milbury and Keith Jones, as well as NHL insider Bob McKenzie.
KINGS AT SHARKS – TONIGHT AT 10:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN
The Sharks (23-13-7, 53 pts) have opened 2019 with a pair of wins, including a5-2 defeat of the NHL-leading Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday, as San Jose has scored at least five goals in four straight games. The Sharks ended the Lightning’s 16-game point streak behind Evander Kane’s two-goal performance.
The Kings (17-23-3, 37 pts) improved to 6-3-1 in their last 10 games following a 4-0 win over the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday. Kopitar scored his 300th career goal in the victory, while goaltender Jonathan Quick recorded his 300th career win.
Alex Faust (play-by-play) and Jamie Baker (‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst) will call Kings-Sharks from SAP Center at San Jose. Paul Burmeister hosts studio coverage alongside analyst Anson Carter.
FLYERS AT CAPITALS – TUESDAY AT 7:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN
The Flyers (15-20-6, 36 pts) enter the week looking to snap a six-game losing streak tonight against the St. Louis Blues. Philadelphia fell to Calgary, 3-2, in overtime on Saturday. A year after making the playoffs, the Flyers are currently last in the Metropolitan Division.
The Capitals (25-12-4, 54 pts) are 6-3-1 in their last 10 games and currently hold a two-point lead in the Metropolitan Division. Washington snapped a three-game losing streak on Sunday, defeating the Red Wings, 3-2. Through 41 games, Ovechkin leads the NHL with 30 goals.
Chris Cuthbert (play-by-play) and Brian Boucher (‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst) will call Flyers-Capitals from Capital One Arena. Burmeister, Jones and Carter handle studio coverage.
JETS AT WILD THURSDAY AT 8 P.M. ET ON NBCSN
The Jets (26-13-2, 54 pts) improved to 6-4-0 in their last 10 games with a 5-1 win over the Dallas Stars on Sunday, as five different players scored. Winnipeg is currently one point ahead of Nashville in the Central Division. Blake Wheeler and Mark Scheifele are one of five pairs of teammates this season to record at least 50 points. Third-year player Patrik Laine paces the team with 24 goals.
The Wild (20-17-3, 43 pts) have won three of their last four games, as Minnesota aims to keep pace in a challenging Central Division. The Wild defeated the Ottawa Senators, 4-3, on Saturday. Zach Parise and Mikael Granlund pace the team with 38 points.
John Walton (play-by-play) and Pierre McGuire (‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst) will call Jets-Wild from Xcel Energy Center. Tappen, Milbury and Jeremy Roenick will anchor studio coverage.
COLLEGE HOCKEY – MINNESOTA AT NO. 9 NOTRE DAME FRIDAY AT 7 P.M. ET
The No. 9 Fighting Irish (12-6-1) enter this weekend’s series against Minnesota after losing 4-2 over the weekend against Michigan at Notre Dame Stadium on NBCSN. Notre Dame fell to Michigan, 4-2, Saturday on NBCSN. Minnesota (7-8-4) split their recent series against Penn State.
Bill Spaulding (play-by-play) and Anson Carter (analyst) will call Friday’s matchup on NBCSN from the Compton Family Ice Arena in South Bend, Ind.
